Silk Naturals kills it with affordable clean beauty products, but to grow longer lashes and fuller brows with a $6 serum? I was skeptical.
The star ingredient in the eyelash conditioning serum is caffeine, which has been clinically proven to stimulate hair growth. It also features tea extracts and castor oil, a favorite natural ingredient for hair growth. It’s also vegan (as most Silk Naturals products are) and cruelty-free.
Silk Naturals products are packaged very simply in plastic with sticker labels. It’s not the most luxurious, but it keeps the price down. This serum is tiny! You get 4ml, which isn’t much. I thought I would go through it quickly, but three months later, I have just under half the bottle left. It depends on how much you use and how often you apply of course.
This is marketed for eyelash growth, but I decided to put it to the test on my brows as well. You can apply it twice a day, but I opted for once nightly. The pump can be a little stiff, but I use approximately half a pump. This is enough for both eyes and brows. I gently massage it into the lashline and my brows, focusing on the front where they’re more sparse. It really just feels wet and absorbs within a few minutes. I have gotten it in my eyes a few times and yes, it does sting, but be careful and you’ll be okay!
I did not apply this to my lower lashes. Silk Naturals advises against it and I already have freakishly long lower lashes, so I was more than okay following their advice.
I’m sure all you care about is the before and after pictures and I don’t blame you! The top picture is before. Apologizes for the bangs in the way. You can see that my eyebrows are very sparse in the front. My lashes are pretty long to begin with and I had nothing against them, but I wasn’t going to say no to make them longer and fuller!
Here are the results after using the serum once daily for three months. Dramatic difference? No, but there has definitely been improvement! I noticed tiny new hairs in my brows only a few days into using this product. These were in areas that I had never experienced growth, so that’s pretty cool. You can only expect so much from hair growth products and I feel like this one really did give my brows a little boost. Here’s another look.
The only downside to using this on my eyebrows is I occasionally get acne in or near them. That doesn’t typically happen, so I’m confident it’s related to this product. It’s usually one spot very couple weeks and while it’s not great, it’s a price I’m willing to pay!
As for my lashes, I didn’t notice much difference because they are super straight and I don’t wear mascara day to day. They seemed better, but I didn’t obsessively analyze them like my brows to know for sure. Looking at the photos, what struck me the most was the difference in thickness. I totally want to coat these babies in mascara and see them in action because it’s going to be so good.
If you have the $6 to spare, I say go for it! I’m going to continue to use this serum and see if my brows and lashes continue to improve, but I’m happy with the results I have now. I would definitely repurchase it.
