It’s been a while since I did a favorites post. I intended to make them a monthly series, but it turns out I just don’t have new things to share that often. Creature of habit- exposed! Despite July being gone in a flash, I tried some new things and rediscovered old loves.
Before we get into it, I just want to let my bujo fans know that there’s a new Plan With Me video on my YouTube channel. Watch it here!
Okay, back to the favorites.
I’ve only worn makeup a few times this month, mostly when filming. It’s not that my skin has been great, it hasn’t. Honestly, this happened because I couldn’t be bothered. Too hot, too lazy. I don’t typically wear much makeup, but before going out I’d always apply it even if I didn’t feel like it. Why? Now I realize how silly that is. There’s something a bit freeing about going out barefaced and not caring.
Acure Brightening Facial Scrub
This product has definitely made its rounds on green beauty blogs, but for good reason. I don’t know how I haven’t talked about this already. Really, I should have included it in my evening skincare routine because it sneaks in there occasionally. When my face is looking flakey and dull, I gently exfoliate using a dime sized amount. It leaves my skin feeing smooth and clean without irritation.
DIY Sea Salt Toner
The heat and humidity haven’t exactly left me feeling fresh, so I’ve been using this simple homemade toner. Just combine a bit of sea salt and warm water and that’s it. I spritz it onto a cotton pad and swipe it over my décolletage to freshen up in the morning, at night, or post-workout. This is particularly great for those prone to body acne, or if you just hate being sweaty.
Without being too heavy on the self-promo, I want to mention my very own storytime about why I gave up my $118,000 scholarship. It was a difficult video to make, but I wanted to share my journey and an important message. It didn’t come out perfectly, but I’m still proud.
To be fair, I always like it, but I don’t always wear it. Does anyone else just forget that wearing jewelry is even an option? I’ve been wearing this Mr. Kate necklace with my Dogeared one to elevate simple outfits. For whatever reason, I named this combo “Moon over Texas” and decided it sounds like a folk band no one has ever heard of. Why does my brain work like that?
Also, I wore these gorgeous statement earrings in a video you’ll see next week and I’m obsessed. They’re no longer available, but Fair Anita has other great pieces.
I gave this series a little shoutout in my What I Eat in a Day post. The third and final season aired earlier this year, but I didn’t watch it until this month. If you haven’t heard of it, 2% of the population disappears and everyone else is left to wonder what happened and how to move on with their lives. There’s never a dull moment. It’s entertaining, but prompts the audience to examine some interesting questions. If you love a good drama and a bit of tasteful sci-fi, check it out.
Usually I favor all things creepy around Halloween, but I’m a little early this year. I love listening to people talk about paranormal (or just weird) things that have happened to them whether it’s via video, podcast or in person. Maybe it’s because I’ve never experienced anything like that, but whatever the case, I’m hooked even if it leaves me feeling a little paranoid. I think I’ve watched all of Harmony Nice‘s paranormal experience videos.
Alright, that’s it from me today. I’d love to know your favorites. If you’ve done a July favorites post or video, leave a link in the comments and I’ll be sure to check it out!
