When all the beauty bloggers love it, I buy it. The Juice Beauty CC Cream is a well loved product in the green beauty community, so its reputation coupled with my desire for easy natural makeup seemed like the perfect match. In reality, it’s complicated.
Like all products I feature, the Juice Beauty CC Cream is vegan, nontoxic and cruelty-free. For $39 you get 1.7 ounces. 1 ounce is the typical amount of foundation per bottle, so you get a lot of product for the price. It comes in five shades, which unfortunately isn’t uncommon in green beauty.
I picked up the second shade down, desert glow. I really thought it would be a good match because the lightest shade looked porcelain, but I was wrong. It’s too dark and very warm (aka orange). I can still make it work, but it’s not a perfect match. If you think you’re between shades, consider going lighter.
Upon application, the first thing that struck me was the scent. It’s not particularly unpleasant, but it’s very distinct, so if you’re sensitive to strong scents I would pass on this one. I first apply it with my hands and then blend it out with a damp sponge. It has a natural satin finish and wears well all day.
My main issue with this CC cream is it has very light coverage. You can build it up slightly, but it’s comparable to a tinted moisturizer. It doesn’t even out my redness or cover blemishes. If you have well behaved skin and just want a little boost, you’d probably really like this, but it’s just not enough for me.
Admittedly, I took this picture for my new hair and not my makeup, but I think it captures what to expect from this product. It gives you a very natural look that doesn’t conceal freckles or imperfections. This was taken a few hours after I applied it and even without setting powder, it looks good. If it had just a bit more coverage, I would love it. As it is, I won’t be repurchasing.
There you have it! A short and sweet post today. Have you tried the Juice Beauty CC Cream? It was so close to being my holy grail. The 100 Percent Pure BB Cream is still my favorite, so if you’re looking for more coverage and a dewy finish, you can read my review here.
