It’s the last day of 2017! Not sure how we’re already at the end of the year and I’m not sure how my December favorites is exclusively beauty, but here we are. I’ve tried quite a few new products this month that I’m excited to share with you along with some old favorites I’ve revisited.
Okay, before we get into the products, my first favorite is my hair. It was getting too long to manage, so a few weeks ago I had it chopped. I haven’t had a major haircut in about two years, so it was time for a change and I don’t regret ditching six inches. Now, it’s so much easier to maintain and I think it looks pretty cute too.
I nabbed this photo from my collab with Warby Parker. It’s the first time I worked with a brand, which was really exciting and fun. If you’re interested in makeup tips for glasses, please give it a read.
Speaking of hair, I’m back into the Shea Moisture Strengthen and Grow shampoo. Since I moved last year, it’s been impossible to get my hair feeling completely clean. The water just doesn’t agree with it, which is incredibly frustrating and I’ve tried so many different products. Does anyone else have a bunch of half used shampoos and conditioners?! I recently came back to this shampoo and it’s the most normal my hair has felt in months. It’s nourishing without being too heavy and leaves my hair feeling clean and so soft.
Let’s talk brows. I love a bold brow, but I’ve always been intimidated by pomades for fear they would look too harsh and be hard to work with. I finally decided to give it a try with Long Last Brows from 100% Pure. Surprisingly, it’s pretty easy to use as a brow novice. You can use just a bit for a natural look or really carve out some Instagram brows. I have the shade medium brown, which is the same shade I use in their fiber brow gel. It matches perfectly. I haven’t decided if I’m going to do a full review or a post on how I do my brows, so if you have an opinion, leave it below.
Ursa Major made my favorites last month with a mask and now I’m loving their Golden Hour Recovery Cream. I’m a devoted facial oils girl, but this little guy came in my Petit Vour box, so of course I tried it. Guys… I think this is the perfect nighttime winter moisturizer. It’s hydrating but fast absorbing, has made my skin ridiculously soft and you need the tiniest amount. The only con is it’s $48. Oh, and it comes in a pot. You know how I feel about moisturizers in pots.
The last two products aren’t quite favorites because I just got my hands on them. They are very promising though, so I couldn’t resist mentioning them. Clove + Hallow piqued my interested a few months ago with their smudge-proof matte liquid lipsticks. I now have three shades and they weren’t kidding about being budge-proof! The swatches survived hand washing and even some scrubbing. They’re also very pigmented, so needless to say I’m excited to try them out. A full review will be coming soon.
I also picked up the Clove + Hallow concealer. I tried it once under my eyes and it performed much better than my current favorite concealer from Hynt. It blended out very easily and had good coverage, so it might be my new fave. I still need to really put it to the test though. Clean concealers that perform are tough to find, so I’ll do a thorough review in a few weeks. So far Clove + Hallow seems great, so I look forward to seeing what new products they bring out.
I hope you all have a happy new year! If you’re need of a subtle sparkly look for New Year’s Eve, check out this tutorial. As for me, I’ll be spending it in my pajamas on the couch because I think that’s the best way to start the year. Talk to you in 2018.
