January Favorites | Beauty, Fashion & Lifestyle

IMG_5665Oh, January. I’m not sad to see you go. For some it brings motivation and a fresh start, but the new year just turns me into a slug. This month wasn’t all bad though, so today we’re talking favorites. If you haven’t read one my monthly favorites before, I bring a mix of beauty, fashion and randoms. I especially love all the things I’m sharing with you this month.

For the first time in quite a while, I’ve been enjoying my skincare routine. I just did a post all about my current routine and products, so if you missed it, read it here. The biggest changes were the addition of the Nopal Cactus Cleanser and Flower Water Toner from Puristry. I talked in length about both products in that post, so I won’t bore you with repetition. Just know that they’ve made a huge difference to my easily upset skin. I don’t see Puristry getting a lot of love, but I highly recommend checking them out. They have USDA certified ingredients, a thoughtfully formulated and curated collection, gorgeous packaging, and most importantly, they perform.

I want to give a little shoutout to an old favorite this month, the Green Tea Fiber Brow Builder from 100% Pure. It sells out every time it’s restocked, but I finally got my hands on it again. It just makes doing your brows so quick and easy. You can use a little for hold and a tint, or you can use a lot to make your brows appear very full. It’s been an everyday makeup essential since it launched nearly a year ago and it’s probably going to be in my makeup bag as long as they make it.

In my experience, the perfect sponge is hard to come by. The beauty blender and 100% Pure sponge are too expensive, the Real Techniques one is too soft, what’s a girl to do? I decided to try the EcoTools Total Perfecting Blender and I was pleasantly surprised. It’s firmer than the Real Techniques sponge, blends out BB cream and concealer well and has a flat edge, which is really nice for getting close to the lashline. Honestly I’m not amazed, it is a sponge after all, but I enjoy using it and I will repurchase it.

I have just one fashion fave this month, but I’m so in love with it. If you’ve been around, you know bras are basically the bane of my existence. Usually, nothing fits quite right, but I can find some that at least mostly fit. Ugh. I had that expectation when I ordered this lace bralette by Cosabella. I’ve wanted to try their bras for a few months now, but the price always seemed too steep. Luckily, I spotted this one in an Anthropologie sale for about $20.

It’s the best fit I’ve ever had! Also it’s pretty, so that helps. But really, if you like bralettes, but the cups are always too small in the size that fits your ribcage, try the plunge styles from Cosabella. There’s always quite a few styles in their sale section, so you can get a pretty good deal.

I don’t think I’ve ever featured a game, but there’s a first for everything, right? If you want to play something on your phone that’s a bit of a puzzle, pretty and all about colors, Blendoku 2 is the answer. Basically, you have an empty grid and have to arrange the given color blocks, so that they blend seamlessly. It sounds a bit weird and it kind of is, but I think it’s fun. I like to solve a few whenever I’m feeling anxious to get my mind off stressors or when I want to be lazy, but don’t want to completely waste away watching YouTube. At least I’m using my brain right? There’s just something really satisfying about building gradients from one color to another. And yes, the second pink block down is in the wrong spot and it’s annoying me too.

That’s it for my January favorites! What did you love this month? If you did a favorites post, feel free to link it below and I’ll have a read. I hope you all have a lovely February.
