March Favorites | Green Beauty, etc.

IMG_5792Is it spring yet? April’s arrival has restored my hope that one day it will be warm and sunny, but that day still has yet to come. Luckily, it’s not all gloom because today I’m sharing my favorites from last month and oh, they’re good.

This is potentially my favorite favorite because it’s solved a problem I’ve been battling for over a year. Since I last moved, washing my hair became a nightmare. It never felt completely clean no matter how much I scrubbed my dry and irritated scalp. I tried different shampoos, treatments, baking soda, but I still had buildup and my hair was weighed down. A couple of weeks ago, I picked up the Avalon Organics Scalp Treatment Tea Tree shampoo on a whim.

Best impulsive purchase out of desperation ever. My hair is soft, shiny and weightless and my scalp is free from buildup. I’ve used it probably five times now and it’s made such a difference, so I wanted to share it asap in case any of you are dealing with the same issues. Of course, this shampoo is vegan, cruelty free, nontoxic and it’s relatively inexpensive, which is a nice perk.

I’ve received four Petit Vour subscription boxes so far, which have lead to me to discover quite a few products that I now love. This facial oil from Aromatherapy Associates is no exception. It took me a while to start using it because I thought it was just another facial oil, but I was so wrong. It’s a tiny bottle of magic. I noticed that my complexion was more even than usual after just one day of use. Upon further inspection, I realized it’s packed with anti-immflatory ingredients, confirming that I wasn’t hallucinating better, calmer skin. The downside is the $64 price tag. Also, if you are sensitive to strong scents, I’d skip this one.

If you saw what’s in my travel makeup bag, you know that I’ve been enjoying the barely pink lip liner from Red Apple Lipstick. I’ve been meaning to pick up a natural lip liner, so it was perfect timing when this came in the February Petite Vour box. It’s a versatile shade that would work with most pinks or my personal favorite, pinky nudes. It’s also very creamy and blendable, so you never have to worry about a 90s lip liner moment.

I have just one fashion fave this month and it’s these socks from Pact. A couple of months ago, I ordered some underwear from them (which are so soft and comfortable) and it came with a code to get a free pair of socks. It was a pleasant surprise and even better when they arrived and I saw they were pink and stripey. What more does a girl need? I think they look super cute peeking out of boots.

Admittedly, this is a bit out of left field, but I had to share My Life as a Zucchini. I love stop motion films like Coraline and The Boxtrolls, so I thought this would be in the same vein. Stylistically it is, but I wasn’t expecting it to be such an emotional and beautiful hour and a half. It tackles the foster care experience and trauma from a child’s raw perspective while interjecting moments of pure joy and humor in a way that feels so honest. You can watch the trailer here and if you’re convinced, it’s available on Netflix. Spoiler, you will want to adopt all the babies.

Alright, that’s it for my March favorites. Aside from that, I’ve just been doing a lot of coursework, looking for a job or internship, and trying to exercise a couple times a week. Pretty normal stuff. I hope Spring finds us soon and April is off to a great start for you!

If you missed my February favorites, you can catch up here.
